Tube Well Project —
three tranches.

Tube well installation across April, May, and June 2026 — three tranches of Rs 150,000 each. Each well typically serves a small community: one mosque plus adjacent households, or a school plus nearby families.

What one tube well actually delivers.

Water infrastructure is the canonical multi-generational charitable intervention. A working well in a Pakistan village pays back over decades.

~3
Wells (Combined)
Three Rs 150,000 tranches likely fund three separate wells, or one well delivered in instalments. Documentation to confirm.
~50
Households / Well
Typical Pakistan rural tube well at this price point serves one mosque + 30–50 surrounding households.
20+ yrs
Useful Life
A well-maintained tube well operates for two decades or more. The capital cost is one-time; the impact compounds.
0
Disease Burden
Waterborne disease — diarrhoea, cholera, hepatitis A — collapses to near-zero in households with reliable potable water.

Why water infrastructure punches above its weight.

Water is the canonical multi-generational intervention in international development. A working tube well in a Pakistan village reduces walking time to clean water from hours to minutes, collapses the household disease burden, frees girls and women from water-fetching duty (and into school and work), and supports basic agriculture.

The Rs 150,000 per-tranche figure is consistent with current Pakistan rural-well economics: drilling, casing, hand pump or solar pump, basic civic works. Each well at this price point typically serves one mosque plus 30–50 surrounding households — perhaps 250–400 individuals.

Three tranches of Rs 150,000 across April, May, and June probably fund three separate wells, but could equally fund one large well delivered in instalments. The Pakistan team’s site selection and engineering files will resolve which.

The companion Tubewell Upgrade (August, Rs 100,000) and OH Reservoir at Masamkhel (October, Rs 50,000) extend the same lead’s portfolio: Hamid Rauf is running QIF’s entire water-infrastructure programme as a single coordinated effort, with the Canada-funded QIF Family Water Well (September, Rs 200,000) layered on top.

“A tube well is the cheapest unit of multi-generational charity infrastructure that exists. We should be building one a quarter for the rest of QIF’s life.”
— Internal — FY 2026 Q1 review

April–June 2026 — three tranches.

Each tranche stands alone — donors can fund Tranche 1, Tranche 2, Tranche 3, or any combination. Site selection happens before procurement.

April 2026
Tranche 1 — site survey & commitment
Pakistan team identifies first well site and documents specs. Tranche month already passed with no recorded receipt — reconciliation in progress.
May 2026
Tranche 2 — drilling & casing
Drilling, casing, hand pump or solar pump installation. Civic works around well-head.
June 2026
Tranche 3 — commissioning & community handover
Final commissioning, water-quality testing, formal handover to community / mosque committee.
July 2026
First field report
Photos, GPS coordinates, beneficiary household count, water-quality test results published on this page.
Annual
Maintenance & lifetime monitoring
Tube wells require periodic maintenance — pump replacement, civic-works upkeep. Future-year QIF allocations factor this in.

Tube well photography is high-impact donor content: drilling progress, pump installation, families collecting clean water. The Pakistan team will document each tranche.

The cleanest unit of compound impact

Build a
tube well.

Rs 150,000 funds one tube well tranche. Twenty years of clean water for a community of fifty households. There is no cheaper unit of multi-generational charitable infrastructure.
